Arcopure HP-MTBE
Methyl t-butyl ether
Tert-Butyl Methyl Ether
1634-04-4
ARCOPURE is used as a reaction, extraction, and crystallization solvent.
It can be used as a replacement for methylene chloride, diethyl ether, and some aromatics.
ARCOPURE can also be used as a solvent or cosolvent for Grignard synthesis and other organometallic reactions, as a cationic polymerization solvent, or as a solvent for chromotographic techniques.
In addition to excellent oxidative stability without inhibitors, ARCOPURE has an acid stability that is superior to other diether acetals.
It also has strong solvating capabilities, clean phase separation in aqueous systems, and easy solvent recovery with low residuals.
Finally, ARCOPURE is non-ozone-depleting and non-corrosive.
MTBE's boiling point of 55'C is low enough for easy distillation from the final product, yet high enough for simple recovery using chilled water condensers.
Air emissions can often be reduced using ARCOPURE instead of methylene chloride, ethyl ether and other solvents with higher vapor pressures and evaporation rates.
