ZB-223
Zinc borate
1332-07-6
Zinc Borate ZB-223 is a white, non-hygroscopic, free flowing powdered zinc borate. The principal application is as a flame retardant/smoke suppressant for PVC. The particle size and refractive index of ZB-223 results in tinting strength which is a benefit in minimizing pigment loadings and in translucent formulations
Zinc Borate ZB-223 can be used as a flame retardant/smoke suppressant, but also can be used in certain applications as an afterglow suppressant and anti-arcing agent. Due to it¡¯s high zinc content ZB-223 is highly recommended for PVC and also finds applications in polyolefins, polyurethanes, thermoset resins, thermoplastic elastomers and rubbers.
The use of proper protective equipment is recommended. Excess exposure to the product should be avoided. Wash thoroughly after handling. Store the product in a cool, dry, wellventilated area away from incompatible materials. Unless stated, proper storage will permit usage of the product for 6 to 12 months from the date of receipt. For additional handling and toxicological information, consult the GLCC Material Safety Data Sheet.
