Retrocure G
Blend of 4- and 5- methylbenzotriazole (tolyltriazole)
Retrocure G is a pre-vulcanization retarder for sulfur modified (G type) polychloroprene rubbers (CR) but not for mercaptan modified grades (W type).
It is also effective in nitrile rubber compounds (NBR) provided MBTS/sulfur curing systems are used.
Retrocure G is easily incorporated into rubber compounds.
It effectively improves the scorch safety and bin storage stability of sulfur modified polychloroprene stocks without or with additional accelerators, such as Accelerator CRA or ETU.
Also, the scorch of nitrile rubber compounds with MBTS/sulfur vulcanization systems is improved significantly.
Typical levels of addition based on 100 parts by weight of elastomer are 0.5 - 1.0 phr for polychloroprene and 0.2 - 0.5 phr for nitrile rubber.
Rubber goods containing Retrocure G have not been found to discolor or stain when used as recommended.
Also, the mechanical properties of rubber compounds are practically not effected, including flexcracking and heat build-up properties.
