DF-97 Urethanes and Plastics
DF-97 is recommended specifically for the release of polyurethane, polyester, or epoxy materials from plastic or metal molds.
DF-97 is specially formulated to enhance lubrication and in most applications outperforms standard silicone fluids at lower usage levels.
This product also acts as a corrosion inhibitor for metals and is suited for use as a protective agent to protect steel or cast iron.
It will also help prevent galvanic corrosion from contact between dissimilar metals.
DF-97 can be applied by dipping, spraying, wiping or brushing and as is or diluted.
However, if not diluted, care must be taken to avoid excessive application.
As with most silicone products, DF-97 will present problems where later painting is desired unless the plastic or urethane parts are thoroughly cleaned prior to painting.
DF-97 is difficult to remove from parts, therefore solvent cleaning with 1,1,1 trichloroethane, naphtha, or mineral spirits, sand blasting or caustic scouring is recommended to remove DF-97.
These same solvents may be used to dilute the product as supplied.
The components of DF-97 are considered to be non-toxic and physiologically inert. However, contact with skin and eyes should be avoided and inhalation of spray mist should be prevented.
