2-ACRYLAMIDE 2-METHYL PROPANE SULFONIC ACID (Acronym ampl): also known as ATBS and SODIUM SALT OF ATBS (NaATBS) 50% aqueous solution.
Applications:
Water Treatment Chemicals: a) Dispersants (Low molecular Weight): Co-Polymer and Terpolymers of 2-acrylamido 2-methyl Propane Sulfonic Acid used to inhibit Calcium, Magnesium, Silica scale, Corrosion Inhibition in Cooling Tower and Boiler.b)
Flocculants (High Molecular Weight): High Molecular weight Co-Polyme of 2-acrylamido 2-methyl Propane Sulfonic Acid used to precipitate solids in Industrial and Mining effluents.
Acrylic Fiber: Co-monomer in acrylic fiber industry to enhance dye receptibility.
Emulsions for Paints and Paper Coatings: Polymers containing 2-acrylamido 2-methyl Propane Sulfonic Acid improves the scrub resistance, reduce the grit formation. Improves dispersant performance.
Adhesives: a) Pressure Sensitive Adhesives: Polymers containing 2-acrylamido 2-methyl Propane Sulfonic Acid are used to improve tack and peel strength in Pressure Sensitive Adhesie formulations.b) Wood Glue: Polymers containing 2-acrylamido 2-methyl Propane Sulfonic Acid improve adhesive strength, superior rheology. Imprves thermal and mechanical properties.
Hydrogels and Super Obsorbents: a) Polymers containing 2-acrylamido 2-methyl Propane Sulfonic Acid are used in diapers, lotions and other personal care products, because of its high water absorbing capacity, electrical conductivity, slipperiness and Lubricity.b) Being a super absorbent, it also finds application in agriculture sector as water retention agent.
Textile Auxiliaries: Polymers containing 2-acrylamido 2-methyl Propane Sulfonic Acid are widely used as Textile Sizing Agents, Thickeners, Dispersants and Non Woven Emulsion Binders.
